VISION (Visualisation and Interactive Simulation of Infrastructure and Operations on rail networks) is a railway operations package and has the capability to:

• Simulate the whole system of infrastructure, signalling, trains, timetable, and regulation/control
• Calculate movements of trains based upon the physical characteristics of the trains and infrastructure
• Model the signalling and control systems

Provision of signalling data to Network Rail ORBIS programme and RINM, a project delivered over three years with a team of ten engineers. Ark was engaged to provide signalling control data for the entire NR network by analysing signal plans and control tables.

Provision of signalling data to VISION model, the data requirements were:

• Signal information
• Track gradient
• Approach signal control
• Line speed
• S&C points location

Provision of signalling data to Network Rail RINM, the data requirements were:

• Train detection section data
• Mainline signal routes entry signal and exit signal data
• Patrolman’s Lockout Device (PLOD) data
• Train Operated Warning System (TOWS) data
